The Ruach Tzafon Chapter
Ruach Tzafon USY, located in New York's capital, Albany, is an amazing chapter with over 60 members, tons of smiles, and lots of laughter and fun.

Welcome to our site and don't forget to drop us a line!
What is USY all about?
United Synagogue Youth, more commonly referred to as USY, is the youth movement of Conservative Judaism. Through this organization, Jewish teenagers in grades 9-12 can meet other Jewish people their age, make friends that last a life time, and have fun. Internationally, USY has over 20,000 members in grades 7-12. These 20,000 USY'ers (as we are called) are divided into seventeen Regions. Our Region is called Tzafon, meaning NORTH, in Hebrew. Althought our region is one of the smallest, we sure are not insignificant. Each Region is made up of several chapters, within their own synagogues. Tzafon is comprised of approximately one dozen chapters. Ruach Tzafon is the chapter from Congregation Ohav Shalom in Albany, New York.
This site is still under construction!

Alright, So What Do We Do?
On a chapter level, USY had a lot to offer. Not only do we have weekly chapter meetings with fun filled activities and laughter each Tueday night, but we also have parties, sports events, dances, and social action programs. You can meet new people your age and make the best friends of your high school years.

*On an international level USY has a number of incredible summer programs. You can go to Israel for six weeks, or to Poland, Italy, or Eastern Europe for one week and then Israel for five weeks. This year there is a new trip that will go to England for one week and then to Israel for another five. You can also go on a six and a half week bus tour around the U.S. with other Jewish teens your age. During your junior or senior year there is a program called USY High, where you live in Israel for two months and take classes. After high school USY offers a program called Nativ, which is a year in Israel. You spend six months attending Hebrew University in Jerusalem and then six months on a kibbutz.
If you would like more information on any of the USY program, feel free to visit the International USY Webpage (by going to USY links on the left hand side menu) or by emailing the International Office by:
