Shalom Haverim! !
My name is Alina Rebecca Bricklin, and I am the Ruach Tzafon USY Communcations VP for 2000-2001.

A Bit About Me~!
Hi, my name is Alina and I have an interesting story to tell. Because space is limited, I'll make it super short (for me this is short), but if you want to contact me, please email.

I was born on March 26, 1984 in what was then Kiev, Russia. Since the collapse of the USSR, Kiev has been the capital of Ukraine. The 26th of any other month would have been nice but March 26th was also my mom's 23rd birthday. What a qoinky dink!

When I was 5 (and 3/4's) my parents packed up some of our belongings (we were living in an apartment with my grandparents as many Russian families did). THey told me that we were going on a vacation. I guess you can still call it that because I have not yet returned.

We embarked on a small journey through Italy and Austria and then arrived in the United States on February 28th, 1990. Just one month from my 6th birthday. After getting a lot of medical tests done (and getting over a bad case of the flu), I was ready start kindergarten at the Hebrew Academy in April.

Over the next three years I partook in an intense study of both English and Hebrew and very quickly picked them up. Today, English is my dominant language

After 3 and a half years at the Hebrew Academy, my parents bought a house in Loudonville and the following September, I started forth grade at Southgate Elembentary School. I then attended Shaker Junior High for 7th and 8th grade and then found myself at Shaker High School for the next four years. I am now a junior and things are going quite well for me. I am active at school, with clubs and sports, I have a part time job at a cool party store (yeah glowsticks~rachel case), I have many great friends, and most importantly to me, I am extremely active in USY.>

Friends Forever!
This is a pick of one of my best friends, Josh. He took this pic of himself for me because I missed him so much.
So How Did I Get to Love it So Much?
Contrary to popular belief, USY is not a cult. It IS a place for laughter and tears, ruach, great friends, and plenty of memories. All of these things roled into one would not be the same without the fabulous staff, fun conventions, chicken soup, and wild dances.

At the beginning of my Freshman year of high school, my friend Julia told me about how much fun she had had at USY encampment. Se quickly got me hooked and every Wednesday I found myself at Temple Israel for another USY meeting. Soon enough I realized that once a week was not fulfilling enough. I then joined Ruach Tzafon and realized all that I had been missing. With a sweet chapter board and cool members, I was there to stay. Freshman year flew by and by the time September of Sophomore year came, I knew that I wanted to be more involved. I applied to be the chapter yearbook chair. THat year, we won Regional Chapter Yearbook Award.

This made me really happy and I felt that along with conventions and keeping in touch with the friends that I made, I could do more to become more USYish.

That May, after Regional Convention, I ran for Chapter Communications VP. It was a tough election but I was so excited to get the position. I started doing a lot of different things to get people informed and it made me look forward to seeing USY'ers even more.

Now, each day that I look back at my USY years, I have but one complaint, why did some of the Freshman never return after my NMI? I can't believe that they are missing all of this.

This year, I plan on running for chapter President. I have some great ideas and am counting down until elections.
I love my USY girls. Encampment 2000 was a blast. Plenty of Nerusy guy stories from the 70's right Sarah?
I love photography and since Freshman year, I have taken over 1000 pictures. Thats over in film processing
